A toast to Casper

Casper: 1992 - 2011

For nearly two decades, I had a cat named Casper. He was also my best friend.
We shared a lifetime of precious memories. But when he reached the last year of his life, things took a turn for the worse. He was frail and skinny. He started having seizures. Had at least 15. I was too scared to sleep or to leave his side. But eventually my little buddy couldn't go on any longer and he passed where he spent most of his time, on the end of my bed, on a nice comfy blanket. A part of me died that day. I mourned him for many years. I was dead set on never getting another cat. But one day I met a silly little rascal that caught my eye. So I took him in and adopted him. His name is Zero. He is my little buddy.
I will never forget Casper and Zero will never be a replacement. But it was time to move on and begin a new chapter in my life...

  1. This is beautiful. Made me teary. You are right, Jonathan. A new cat is never a replacement for the one who you loved a long time ...

  3. I'm so sorry to hear this, Holly. Each cat I've ever had has held a special place in my heart. Each occupies a different place, and for different reasons. When a person has an open heart, there's plenty of room for all. Again, I'm sorry for your loss.

    1. Thank you. That's true. My dearly departed dogs and family members each hold a special place in my heart too. It's like a haunted house with a room for everyone.

My heart is filled with my big fat dog, Kane. He's been gone six years and I can't speak of him without feeling terrible sadness.
I have another sweetie,..it's a mean little cat, that hates everyone, but hates me the least, lol.

    R.I.P. Casper
