Werewolves of Christmas

“Midnight, and the clock strikes.
It is Christmas Day, the werewolves birthday,
the door of the solstice still wide enough open
to let them all slink through.”

- Angela Carter
The Company of Wolves

I had to make that graphic, since there was a full moon!
There hasn't been a full moon on Christmas since 1977
and there won't be another till 2034!

Did you guys get some gory gifts?
I got a vampire doll, which I can't wait to show you all!
I also got the gift of unseasonably warm weather!

All I needed was my monster mate to make the day great!

Season's Beatings!

That's me after fighting off Santa's creepy cohort.
Nope, not Krampus. He was too busy.
This is Year of the Yule Goat!

Get this cool card created by Voodoo Ghoul here!

Santa has yet another horned helper though.

Dark Decor for Black Friday

Hope those of you who celebrated had a happy Thanksgiving!

I'm thankful for many things, including these delightfully dark gifts:

The skull mirror, bat marrow bottle and black roses were from my aunt.

The brooch was from my dear friend Debi.
I adore the artwork on it:
The Girl in the Mirror by Madame Grotesque

And the bony birdy was from myself.

You can get him here!

Warning: He falls forward easily.
I still love the little guy though.
Both his wings and mouth move!
And Svengoolie has the same one!

My Horror Movie Survival Crate

ManCrates.com, purveyors of Zombie Survival Crates and other
great gifts for men, made this awesome info sheet for Halloween
and asks: What would you want in a horror movie survival crate?

Since I'm an eternal optimist,
I assume my apartment is stocked with food and drinks.
So I would just want the items below and the crate itself,
which I'll use pieces of to board up the doors and windows.
(Along with my least favorite furnishings.)

Suit of Armor

The Conqueror Sword

Machine Gun

Pistol Crossbow with Silver-Tipped Wooden Arrows

Silver Bullets

Squirt Gun with Holy Water

Drill with Screws

Batteries

Duct Tape

PowerPot 10

Sterno Emergency Preparedness Kit

Lighter

Lanterns and Flashlight

Emergency Radio

First Aid Kit

Vivarin

Gas Mask

Dy-no-mite!
(In case I need to create a quick exit.)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Musick Monday: Voorhees Stomp

Get away for the holiday on a killer cruise to Manhattan,
courtesy of Maestro Magnus Sellergren aka Videogram.

Voorhees Stomp is the first video from his Cineploit debut album "Pre-Cert",
which will be released on Friday the 13th of November.
"Camp Blood EP", a limited edition 10" pic disc/download
featuring remixes of the track and more,
will be released on December 18th.

The video was directed by Aaron Romero and is a tongue-in-cheek
8-bit tribute to the eighth installment of the Friday the 13th franchise;
"Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan."

Mixing the 1989 movie with the 1989 "Friday the 13th" NES game,
(which you can play FREE here!), it sees the iconic Jason Voorhees
showing off his "killer moves" in Crystal Lake and New York City.
Every kill from the movie has been carefully recreated with reverence,
detail and a healthy dose of humor. As you shall see!

I LOVE it and it makes me want this NES Jason figure even more!

Previously only available as a SDCC 2013 exclusive,
this version comes with a machete, ax, harpoon gun,
removable mask, and his mother's head!
New paint deco reproduces the game's pixelated look.
And not only does the packaging re-create the game's box,
lift the front flap and it plays music from the game too!
You can pre-order him here!

Hell-o October!

So long summertime sadness!

I got my red dress on tonight.
Dancing in the dark in the pale moonlight.

Time to get back to badness!

Changing into devil just as fast as -I- can.

Cosplaying as my Living Dead Doll friend,
13th Anniversary Sin.

Speaking of anniversaries,
Holly's Horrorland turns 5 on Oct. 14th,
so I'll be doing a celebratory giveaway!

Videogram takes us to Outpost 31, Antarctica, 1982

SomeThing is out there. It's freezing,
and man is the warmest place to hide.

This is the first track on Videogram's two track tribute to The Thing.
It perfectly conveys the paranoia and tense feeling of the film.

Antarctica is a fitting title for the chilling second track.
It's a somber ending to this digital single,
which will thrill fellow fans of John Carpenter's classic.

Especially the awesome cover artwork by Van Davis.

Preview and purchase these exclusive tracks here.

They won't be on Videogram's "Pre-Cert" LP/CD,
which will be released by Cineploit in November.

Doll Diary

Dear Diary,

I can't believe I made it through this crazy day!

My sister Zola and I were sick of sitting around the suite,
so we decided to treat ourselves to lunch at Chez Zarbus.
Which is inside a pedestal under a giant stone gryphon!

We were greeted there by a legless brown bear,
who introduced himself as Pendleton the proprietor.

As he lead us to a cold, dark room in the back,
he said he felt a kinship to us, due to our lack of limbs.
When he turned the light on, we gasped at what we saw!
A line of frozen bears and other animals.

He told us to pick a pair of arms and he'd remove them,
then pin them on to us like his were with magical pins,
because everyone has the right to bear arms.
I waited for him to say we were on Candid Camera,
after he was done laughing like a loon, but he didn't.

So, Zola and I both made a run for the door,
but the biggest bear got up and grabbed us!
While Pendleton explained he was his assistant,
Teddy, we managed to wiggle free and flee!

Once outside we were greeted by the gryphon!
He had come alive and swooped to the ground.
He said he was Zarbus, Pendleton's familiar,
and was ordered by him to stop us.

He clutched us in his massive paws,
but as he did, they began cracking.
Continuing up his arms to his body,
which shattered!
We fell to the ground with his head,
which landed on Pendleton!

While Teddy tried to help him,
Zola and I hightailed it home!

Lucky to be alive,

Lucy

which Magaly G. and Rommy D. inspired.

Meet the Doll Creator: Mandy Murdica of Chiara Venice Art Dolls

I have always had a vivid imagination and believed in fairy tales,
mythical creatures, aliens and outer space...
As a little girl I always believed that my dolls were alive…
and yes that they spoke to me...
Now my childhood dreams have become a reality
and my dolls really do speak to me in so many ways!!!

I am a self taught doll artist and come from Sydney, Australia.
Chiara Venice Art Dolls officially began late 2013.
My medium of choice is cloth,
but I am venturing into a combination of clay and cloth also.
I love the process of transforming an idea into a pattern/a sculpt,
then into a doll, then to add all the elements needed to bring it to life
and give it it's very own soul, it always strikes me as mystical!

My art dolls do not conform to one particular genre or style.
The one thing that I do maintain and love to create are big alluring eyes
that are in a way, unnerving at times.
I feel this is what holds the spirit of my dolls soul
and if their eyes are following you I have indeed succeeded!

"Art Dolls are the key to my unconscious mind,
my way down the rabbit hole,
my looking glass into the world around me and beyond."
