Japanese Lesson

You can read the Shonen Jump issue this is in free till 2/15 here!

KAIJU is another word for monster, or literally "strange creature."

A KAIJIN is a humanoid monster.

And a DAIKAIJU is a giant monster.

Speaking which,
GORIRA (Gorilla) + KUJIRA (Whale) = GOJIRA (Godzilla)

I couldn't let Japanuary end without mentioning the King!

Or Kyuketsuki's Day! (More Godzilla valentines here.)

Poe and Postcards

Song by Voltaire. Art by Suehiro Maruo.

I posted that video on my Facebook page for Poe's birthday.
Now I'm posting it here for Voltaire's birthday, which is today!

I found out you can get the Poe art piece on a postcard,
along with five others in this sweet sanguinary set here:

Suehiro Maruo Vampire Panorama

It'd make a perfect gift for Vampire's Day, eh?

So would these Mari Shimizu vampire doll postcards:

You can get them here.

Invitation to the Fourth Annual Vampire's Day Soiree

February 14th is no longer a day to dread,
when it's all about the love of the undead!

(I dug this video up from my first Vampire's Day post,
since it's also fitting for Japanuary.)

To join the sanguinary soiree, simply sign up below.
Then post anything vampire related on Feb. 14th.
Be sure to include a link back here too.

If you post on Facebook or Twitter,
please use hashtag #VampiresDay
Let's see if we can make it a trend!

L is for...

A few of my favorite Japanese things!

L from Death Note:

And all the sweets he eats!

Like my favorite,
Lollipops!

Which I lick while I rock Lolita frocks!

And watch fitting anime,
like Le Portrait de Petite Cossette:

And Le Chevalier D'Eon,
which you can read my review of here!

Lastly, the lovely La Carmina:
Who I plan to do a post on soon,
but you can read about her here!

Happy Japanuary!

Oh Christmas tree so wee
Let me describe the things on thee:
Red, dead, dark, and delicious!

The little skeleton figure on top was one of my gifts,
which came in this sweet Kickstarter exclusive set:

It also came with a surprise postcard of this piece:
I really want that print collection too!
You can get it and the Little Fluffy Gigolo Pelu books here.

The first print from it is fittingly Japanese New Year:
It's fitting not only because the New Year has just begun,
but also because it's the start of Japanuary!
A month full of all things Japanese.
