Hammer Glamour
Ingrid Pitt
November 21, 1937 – November 23, 2010
Star of The Vampire Lovers and Countess Dracula (1970 & 1971)
The Vampire Lovers is actually part of a trilogy, based on the novella Carmilla (1872)
It was followed by Lust for a Vampire (1971) and Twins of Evil (1972)
[They aren't available on disc, but you can watch both on YouTube.]
There's a vampiress from the same family in Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter (1974) as well.
Ingrid is only in the first film, but they all feature beautiful (and often bare!) babes.
Which is one of the things Hammer horror films were known for.
Fangs for the mammaries!

Clucks & Yucks!
Freddy is my favorite chef,
cause with him there's no need to break out the electric knife!
Below are two cinematic turkeys for you to feast on:
Blood Freak (1972)
Thankskilling (2009)
[I DO NOT recommend buying this turkey.
Try finding it free, for a good laugh. :]

Zombie Poetry
Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun
Will we behave in the grave,
Or will we rise to have a zombie rave?
In life we must stick to our guns,
No sex, no liquor,
We don't want to bust our ticker,
But when life is finally through,
We learn there's still lots of living to do
Only ghouls have fun,
They fornicate and feast till the day is done,
They ooze, (quite literally), tons of fun
Ghouls just wanna have fun
Whether a barbeque or luncheon,
On brains they will be munchin'
Ghouls just wanna have fun,
(They just wanna, they just wanna..)
They had their time to live,
Now it's time to have some fun,
Before they go head to head with a shotgun.

Creepy Dolls!

Rare Romero
George A. Romero's film about a helper monkey.
She's not a zombie monkey, but does kill people! Anyone who annoys her owner. Nice, eh? Not so nice when she gets jealous and attacks his girlfriend though!
I won't spoil anymore. Buy the DVD through the link above, or watch it for free here!
Below are Romero's other lesser-known fright flicks:
Season of the Witch (1973)
Martin (1976)
Two Evil Eyes (1990)

Dine with the Dead
Actually, ON the dead!
Aside from Sugar Skulls,
the traditional treat to eat today are Soul Cakes.
Made for All Saints' Day or All Souls' Day to celebrate the dead.
Each cake eaten represents a soul being freed from Purgatory.
They were given out to "soulers" (usually children) who went from door to door calling out words such as those in the song A Soalin' by Peter, Paul and Mary:
"Soal, a soal, a soal cake, please good missus a soul cake,
An apple, a pear, a plum, a cherry,
Any good thing to make us all merry,
One for Peter, two for Paul, three for Him who made us all."
A recipe for the cakes and iced pumpkin juice is located here!

Bloody Banquet
The best beverage to serve with a rare steak, (or tomato soup for veggie vamps)
But don't stop there, add terror to your table with spooktacular dinnerware!
Some suggestions...

And don't forget to finish your feast with some bloody dessert!

Happy 128th Birthday, Bela Lugosi!
"To win a woman, take her with you to see Dracula"
- Bela Lugosi
Remember that, fellas! Those are words of wisdom.
Also, if you haven't seen the film Ed Wood, I highly recommend it.
It'll make you fall for Bela, who's portrayed superbly by Martin Landau.
Here's my favorite scene:

Alice Cooper is coming to town!
Him and Rob Zombie are playing at Merriweather Post Pavilion tomorrow.
I wish I could afford a VIP ticket to the show, so I could meet The Master.
Though if I did, I'd probably act like this...

Bloody Baking
Vampire Cookies
Ingredients:
3/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp almond extract
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
approx 1/2 cup red jam (raspberry/strawberry)
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light. Beat in egg and extracts.
Add flour and salt to the bowl and mix them into the butter-sugar mixture at low speed until dough is just combined.
Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 325F.
Divide dough in half and keep the portion you are not using in the refrigerator.
Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface until it is about 1/8-inch thick. Use a cookie cutter to cut out 2-inch rounds.
Place rounds on a baking sheet, put a teaspoon of jam on each of them and cover with another round of dough.
Press edges down lightly, pinching the edges onto the cookie sheet.
Use a toothpick and poke two small holes (like a vampire bite) in the top of each cookie.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, until cookies are set.
Cool for about 5 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Dip a toothpick in some extra red jam and re-insert in the “bite” holes you made before baking to emphasize them, if not already red.
Draw a blood trick down from one of the bites with the jam, if desired.
Cookies are best the day they are made. Makes 2 dozen.
Vampire Cupcakes
(This is a gluten-free version, for all my GF gfs!)
Ingredients:
1 can gluten-free cherry pie filling
Gluten free cupcakes (any flavor) - cooled
White gluten free frosting
Gummy fangs (Optional)
Pour the pie filling into the blender and puree until smooth.
Using a sharp knife, insert at an angle and cut out a cone-shaped piece of the cake.
Fill the hole with pureed cherry pie filling.
Cut off the tip of the cone, and place the piece of cake back into the hole, covering the filling and creating a smooth top.
Frost the cupcakes, smoothing the top.
Place a gummy fang on top of the frosting. (Optional)
Stick a tooth pick into some cherry pie filling.
Put a drop of pie filling at the tip of each fang or on the frosting.
Enjoy!
Note:
To give boxed gluten-free cupcakes a more homemade taste,
Add 2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract to white cake mix.
And 1 teaspoon dried espresso and 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract to chocolate.

Introduction
This blog is for posting interesting items I find,
Some are mine, others found online
(As you can see, I also like to rhyme,
So I'll inflict my poetry on you from time to time)
Everything will be Halloween or Horror related,
Often obscure and/or outdated
So, if you like your vampires sparkle-free,
Stay and have some blood tea with me!
"But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat. "We’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad."
"How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice.
"You must be,” said the Cat. "Or you wouldn’t have come here.”
