They're the only Mattel made ones I'm aware of, besides The Birds Barbie.
I've discovered some horrorific ones made by altered Barbie artists though!
Here are two of my favorites by Lavonne Salle:
Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?
Misery
I also dig this Chucky Tommy doll by Charles Roark:
(Tommy is one of Barbie's sister Kelly's friends.)
Speaking of which,
Mattel makes Halloween Kellys and friends.
(All Target exclusives.)
Here's my collection:
Frankenstein Kayla and Bride Miranda
Originally sold in 2009, but I just bought them on eBay.
Bat Kelly with My Little Batsy, made by WendyPony
Bought both of them in 2008.
Vampire Tommy
Originally sold in 2001, but I didn't buy him till 08.
Thanks so much for posting these pictures! Thanks also for the nice shout-out. :)
ReplyDeleteI got such a laugh out of the "Baby Jane" doll set! I've actually never seen that movie, although lots of people have told me that it's the scariest movie ever. That "Misery" doll set is great too. I outta look at some of the altered Barbies out there.
Your Kelly dolls are so cute! I've never seen that little bat doll before. Just adorable. That vampire is so cute too! So, I finally saw the Monster High dolls in Target the other day. I had only seen them online before. Those are all so great that it's hard to pick a favorite! You said that you have a few Monster High dolls, right?
No problem! Thanks for giving me a shout-out too! :)
ReplyDeleteBaby Jane is so good! I like Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte more though.
(I posted a list of Bette Davis's horror films here, if you're interested.)
I also found this other awesome altered Barbie artist, Mariel Clayton.
Her pictures aren't postable though, sadly.
Glad you like the Kelly dolls! :) And yep, I have Frankie and Draculaura.
I actually just ordered some more though, so I'll have one of every M.H. character soon! :)
Did you get some of them?
I don't even know about Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte! Bette Davis kind of freaked me out as she got older...I will take a look at your Bette Davis horror film link.
ReplyDeleteI googled Mariel Clayton after looking at the link you posted. If you look at Mariel's Flickr account, you'll see some pretty disturbing doll photography. I can't believe I was that disturbed by photos of Barbies, but wow.
Oh, Frankie and Draculaura are so cute! I loved the Clawdeen doll too. No, I didn't get any of them at that time, but I probably will! It's tempting to get them all!
So I'm guessing that you have a pretty big doll collection. Do you have them all displayed together?
Brilliant. The Baby Jane doll is probably the best thing I've seen all week. Just awesome!
ReplyDeleteJustine - Bette freaked me out too. That's why I love her! lol.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Mariel's Barbie photos are a bit too disturbing to post.
I couldn't resist getting all of the M.H. dolls. I have Draculaura's coffin bed too!
Yep, I'm a doll addict! lol. My apartment is too small to display them all though, sadly.
Jinx - Isn't it?! It's actually for sale here.
I don't know if it's awesome enough to blow 300 bucks though!
okay that is a wild ride in plastic proportions...
ReplyDeleteIndeed! Isn't plastic fantastic? :)
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty cool. The Whatever Happened to Baby Jane pair air suitably creepy, love the creepy lipstick! Vampire Tommy is adorable.
